9. The Local and National Impact of the Project

At the beginning, we didn't know anything about Rumkale, which is quite close to us. Because of the unstable road conditions, we thought it was something bothering to go there. After getting started, we were able to draw the attention of both the local media and civil societies.
The problem of transportation was overcome to a great extent. The only connection means, the bridge, had been put under water. The local authorities built 3 quays. All the roads leading to the place were asphalted. Besides, the ship to run between Zeugma Antique City and Rumkale was launched into the River Euphrates.
We shared the workload with our friends. As a result, tourists began to come and spend at least a day in the area whereas this was a rare occasion in the past. Now, it can be said that tourist activities have started to contribute to the social life of the region.
The villagers were about the importance of its preservation as it is and informed not to destroy the environment.
Some good news about the foundation of social facilities was given. Visiting authorities, we aim to have Rumkale in the minds of people and in the agenda.

Local media and the community have had serious interest in this project. Much news has taken place both in Life Magazine of Gaziantep and Channel 27, where students and teachers were interviewed.
