Youngsters competed for the 4. time to protect the environment in "Volvo Adventure Environment Project"

Turkish finalists for “Volvo Adventure Environment Project” supported by Turkish Science Centers Foundation to make youngster conscious of environment and to activate them have been chosen.It was announced in the ceremony held in Swiss Hotel that Private Sanko Schools came first in the competition organized by Volvo in order to make environmental awareness become widespread and improve it all over the world in cooperation with UN Environment Program.

Turkeywhich had the highest number of applications with 184 projects in the world broke another record as it happened last year. Private Sanko Schools, which joined the competition from Gaziantep, is going to represent Turkey with its Project Rumkale - "No longer alone!" in the International Final to be organized in Goteborg, Sweden in May.

In the competition in which the finalists were chosen by the International Volvo Jury, Private Koc High School became the second with its Project “Solar Energy for a Better Life” and Yesilkoy 2001 College became the third with “Recycling of Disposals” Project.

Rumkale - "No longer alone!"

Private Sanko Schools students aimed at drawing the attention of the public, contributing to the protection of Rumkale, a cultural heritage, and make it a tourist center with their Project entitled Rumkale - "No longer alone!" they have been carrying out since 2004. The students who reached their aims to a great extent enabled Rumkale to be taken under protection.

Private Sanko Schools students touched by that Rumkale was idle made Rumkale a cultural center visited by tourists through their projects. The students who started their activities by protecting Rumkale’s historical heritage, afforested an area and solved the transportation problem with the heopl of various institutions. Besides these works, they carried out campaigns for collecting books and clothes for the students in Rumkale.

$10.000 for the WinnerThe teams chosen as the first of their countries are going to present their projects in the International Final on 25-30 May 2007 in Sweden. Several gifts are going to be presented to the projects in the first 3. The winner is going to get $10.000, the second $6.000 and the third $4.000. Then, the first 3 projects are going to be announced to the whole world on Volvo Adventure website.
